However, the healthy compartment will wear out as well in the future.<br \/>\nOsteotomy is usually performed on patients under 60 years of age. Two procedures are available:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Opening wedge osteotomy:<\/strong>\u00a0This is the most frequently employed procedure.<br \/>\nIt involves cutting the tibia along a cut line and spreading the edges to insert a piece of mineral bone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Closing wedge osteotomy<\/strong>: This procedure involves removing a piece of bone from the tibia.
